Primary Fuel Filter change out procedure on Holiday Rambler Endevor

I am a newbie on this website and to class A motorhomes as well.
I have just purchased a 40 ft. 2003 Holiday Rambler Endeavor and have been changing filters and fluids according to manuals that came with motor home.
Generally, the instructions have been detailed but when it comes to the Primary Fuel Filter, there is not much on the procedure to change it.
There is a very brief paragraph on it that shows location and change intervals but nothing on how to remove and replace it.
Any help would be greatly appreciated!

cummins 330 ISC. 330 horsepower.
The filter I am talking about is not located on the engine but rather on the frame on left side near rear wheel.

Your ISC has a lift pump...turn the hey on and go back and time how long it runs. Should be aprox 30 seconds and you use it to fill the fuel filter that you put on dry...no need to pre fill. I cycle the key on/off four times (2 minutes of run time) before starting. I’ve changed a lot of diesel fuel filters over the years and the ISC/ISL/ISX are the only ones you put on without adding fuel to them first. In 14 years I did not pre-fill my ISL filters.

Ivy nailed it. I have the 350 hp version in my Dynasty and my manual says not to prefill the filter.

My manual also says to put the secondary on dry. I’ve always been afraid of to put on a dry filter so I plug the center hole and fill it with clean fuel. Anyone know why they want it on dry and use the lift pump to fill it? Is it to ensure filtered fuel?

I did not prefill my filters for the first 7 years I owned the coach and then I had a problem. Fought with it and finally had to put air on the tank to get the rig started. Since then I have a plastic plug that I use and prefill the filters.

What you think is clean fuel, poured from a container can contain damaging debris. That will score your injectors or damage the tips.

Will it happen ? Maybe not but it could.

Don't you think something changed with you fuel system, if it worked for 7 years and then didn't ?

Slight suction leaks on the tank to pump line can cause what your experiencing. If it gets worse, you can develop engine power problems.

The OP should and probably does know to change the filters one at a time .

I change my primary first get the engine running good before then changing
the secondary .

As far as prefilling , I have done it both ways .
One problem with prefilling is having a for sure clean supply of diesel
even then you should have a clean plastic pipe nipple to screw into the
center hole and then pour diesel into the outer holes . This insures that
all the fuel passes through a filter .

Somehow the comments strayed off course.
I was wondering if there was anything I needed to know special about changing out the Primary Fuel filter.
Anything special about removing or installing filter and associated assembly?

Other than making sure you remove the Oring (actually a square ring) on the center threaded nipple and put the new one on...pretty simple.

Thanks for the info-my manual did not give any detail on changing the filter.
I appreciate all the input!
