Pump running continuously

Just a bit background:

I got my Navigator in later part of November last year. The previous owner told me it was all winterized. It sat in my garage during Michigan winter months, supposedly winterized.

Before dewinterizing it a couple of months ago, I drove it and parked it in a friend's house while I did some construction on my driveway. I brought it home last Friday and wanted to start by sanitizing the water system. That is when I discovered that my Accumulator tank had raptured. I replaced the tank with one from Lowes A.O. Smith 2-Gallon Expansion Pressure Tank

I connected the expansion tank today and set its pressure to 22 lbs. When the fresh water tank was about 2/3 full, I noticed water coming out of the Gravity Fill hose. The hose is obviously old and brittle. I taped with electrical tape first then with some Etherna Bond Tape that I put over it. I think I have sealed it temporarily until I replace it.

The tank setting is in "Fresh Water Fill" position, but my pump runs continuously. I have only two positions; "Fresh Water Fill", and "City Water" The end of the hose is plugged, not connected to external water source.

Any help would be appreciated.

Have you fully bled all the water lines of air? Is fresh tank filling. There may be a 3 way winterize valve open/closed before pump for sucking up antifreeze.
There are some times check valve in line to the pump and city valve as well as internal check valves in pump. They are usually pretty easy to pull apart and clean the pump as long as screws come out.

Turn switch the "city Water" even though you are using the pump

"Fresh water fill' position causes pump to 'round-robin'
*Suck water up from fresh water tank then pump it back to fresh water tank via the Fill Valve


You can also Fill the fresh water tank via City Water connection vs gravity fill
Connect potable water hose...Set to 'Fresh water Fill' and turn water ON

Swap to 'City Water' position if you choose to use hose connection vs pump

Old-Biscuit: As you can tell, I am very unfamiliar with how the plumbing is set up on this coach.

I did try this - Put the Valve to City Fill, and the pump stopped running, but the water flow was minimal. Maybe it has air in lines. I will have to try it again tomorrow.

Pump running (or city water) go to same plumbing cold lines then to Water Heater for hot water lines

Turn pump ON and open faucet cold side to bleed air out of cold lines then to hot side to fill water heater and bleed air out of hot lines
*water heater could be BYPASSED so check the valving on it

House water filters clogged
Check the faucet aerator screens (on end of faucet) for clogging
Check Pump suction strainer for debris

As you can see it is 1 1/2". So, I take it that it is not going to work, is it?
I can't see what the fitting looks like at the tank.

Old-Biscuit: Per your suggestion, I turned the valve, see pic., 90 degrees to City Water Closed position. My pump worked as it should for both cold and hot water. I then connected the fresh water hose to my house supply, and I had full pressure drawing the water from my house, obviously no pump on.

The Fresh Water Fill, just fills the fresh water tank.

Open your fresh water drain and put pressure in it from a garden hose, even better if you have a connector. Then run the pump.

It might be sucking a bit of air at the input and will not seal properly.

Just saying, had this happen twice on mine. Learned the hard way.

YC1: It looks like you are making an important point, but I don't get it. Can you elaborate a bit?

Air bubbles can be tricky. I learned that from bleeding brakes on my airplane. I could see the air bubble and pump plenty of fluid through but the darn bubble persisted. Putting a vacuum on it did the trick but if I could have moved the line to a level place or perhaps lower the bubble would have come out..

The fresh water system drain as shown in the diagram lets you drain the tank. Pushing water into that pipe may push any trapped air out of the pump system. Worth a try at least. You will need to turn the pump on of course.
