Quest for the right coach
Have been searching for awhile now to upgrade from gasser to a diesel. Going to look at a 2008 Monaco patriot concord IV with 65,000 miles. Any thoughts or concerns I should be checking out besides the usual?? Thanks

Roof to wall seam. Make sure it isn't separating.

Get a quality surveyor or inspection done. Check aquahot, transfer switch, invertor, genrator...lippert hydraulic pump for signs of leakage into the motor ($$$)

Bevo7,
It's actually a Beaver Patriot Thunder Concord IV. Most probably Capjake1 has the most knowledge since he owns a Beaver of the same year.
It runs with Caterpillar engine with 525hp. You should have a lot of fun since it's the high end luxury coach from Beaver.
As mentioned by capjake take a good inspector as there is so many systems in this coach and it's easy to be overwhelmed by all the features and luxury items and miss a lot of not working items. I know, when I checked my Dynasty, I went to visit it and check it at least a dozen times. Be sure to get the engine and gen oil analysed.
Good luck!

Great rigs! The only problem with the Cat engine is the ARD head regeneration system. I finally just had ours removed. I love the Patriot Thunder...a lot of high end stuff.
Oh..look around the dryer vent for delamination. They missed sealing a few of those.

2008 Beaver would use a 2007 engine I believe. Might be worth a look to see if its a ARD engine like Captjake says. You may have one that got in under the radar. Example, our 2005 has a 2004 engine that was mfg in Dec 2004. All I'm saying (the hard way) is that I don't know if all '07 CATs were ARD or not. Call CAT with the engine serial # and they will tell you all there is to know about the engine.

Exactly. Our 2008 has a 2007 engine. I believe all 2007 engines had it.
Easy to identify. Instead of a standard muffler, it will have an enormous diesel particulate filter. About 40" long, 11" in diameter.
In all of the research I have done on that, everybody recommends removing it, even the Cat guys (off the record).

Just in case you don't have the brochure and the specs
https://docs.google.com/viewer?url=h...r.pdf&pdf=true
Beaver Patriot Thunder Specifications
It's running on an S-Series semi-monocoque chassis with 10 air bags and 10 Shock absorbers. You should try to find if the shocks were changed!
Enjoy!
