Question for the 2000 and up Monaco Executive owners

Just came across this 2002 Monaco 40' DP. I've never seen a 40" that had a tag axles? Pro and cons to this one?

I remember Monaco offered a 39' tag axle (called the Bishop) when I bought my 2008 42' Dynasty. The unit had an enormous amt. of CCC.

Looking at the pics it looks like a nice unit. I had used a clothes-pin to put under the air brake knob as I didn't want it to be bumped accidentally to release the brakes. I see they had the same concern.

Ok so what you have there is my coach only difference is the bedroom slide and the aquahot the 2 things I wish I had. It is air leveling not Jack’s that can go both ways on what you like.

They have done some remodeling, tv move and flooring I can tell for sure.

If it was me for that price I would jump at it in a heartbeat if I did not have my coach.

The 500 with the Allison 4000 is one of the bests combinations you can get, no lift pump, cac, or def.

The only other question is the steering box hope it has the trw not the shepherd.

Btw all Monaco of that era 39’ and over had tag if they had the 500 due to weight.

Not an Executive owner but close.

Looks like a nice coach and has all the features I wish I had including the Aquahot and tag. Lots of carrying capacity.

Price looks good but might be able negotiate since tires have some age, even at 2016 you only got a couple years left. At minimum plan on replace the fronts in a couple years and then the back sometime after that. Move the front to the tag.

In my view you better be fast, it won't last.

For $5k more I’d opt for the 03 below... 3 slides and drivers side LR one is much bigger. Same engine and miles with residential refrigerator. Also no window over the head of the bed... cold in the winter.

That's way to big. Really only want a 38DP but kind of like that 40' with tag axle one

I have a 40PBT with the tag and love the way it drives. The tag does take away some bay storage but we still have plenty of room down there. We went south for the winter last year and had room for plenty of stuff, including a spare tire laying in the slideout tray along with everything needed to change a tire if needed. With the tag axle, it actually has a shorter wheelbase than a 40 ft. coach without a tag but still drives better. That shorter wheelbase makes it easier to get into tight spots. That engine-transmission combination is absolutely awesome. I have the opposing slides in the front and would not want a coach without that feature, but that is just my opinion. If that isn't an issue for you these are very well built coaches.

Thanks. Yes we do like opposing slides in the front too.

Love the 40 foot coaches with a tag axle! This was what we were looking for, until we happened to fall in love with a 42 footer. To me the 40 foot with the tag axle is the sweet spot, though.

All the best with your search! Executive is a great coach.
