Rear air compressor seems to run alot more in colder weather

We have a 2007 Monaco Dynasty and the rear air compressor for keeping the coach level seems to cycle a lot more in colder weather. It does not run very long long. I would guess an air leak because of the shrinkage of parts in the colder temp but does anyone have any ideas of were to start looking? If any one has had this problem I would like your help.
Thanks Chief

Yes, I have the same problem, and have posted about it a few times. I have gone over the air system looking for leaks many times, and have replaced several fittings and parts, but when the temps get down close to freezing or below, my pump cycles and cycles. In fact I recently wired in a switch to the driver's area to be able to turn the pump off when it gets to be too much. I guess the only thing to do is crawl under when it's cold and squirt down the fittings, but that really doesn't enthuse me, maybe better to keep heading south:-)

Some the additional run time is associated with thermodynamics.

When the compressor does run it is actually heating the air as it is compressed. Then due to the colder weather the air "shrinks" and you loose pressure, which requires to the compressor to run again.

I could dig out my college books and provide a formula but it would take me too long to decipher the darn thing again. Barely understood the concept when I was younger

P1 * V1 / T1 = P2 * V2 / T2 (Sorry I can't get it to do subscripts) It hadn't occurred to me that it might make that much difference. Interesting.

Dang! I've been trying to put all that thermo-stuff behind me for almost 50 years!!!! Why does it keep coming back to haunt me???

I guess it's the dynamics of it.

Likely the "6-pack" manifolds over each axle. They are known after some age to corrode right at the outer o-ring where the solenoid meets the manifold block, coupled with the o-rings themselves aging out. This will bleed the bags down causing the system to re-level.

There's a few threads on here on rebuilding them/replacing the o-rings. It's fairly easy but probably not too much fun in the cold.

I parked on plankings so I could still fit underneath (barely) with all the air drained out of both the bags and tanks. You will definitely want all air out of entire system before working on any part of this or chance getting squished.

She sits rock solid now ever since I rebuilt the solenoids. I don't even leave the auto leveler on anymore... level it up and shut it completely down. Have sat up to a month without losing any bag air.

Hope that helps.

You mention "rear compressor". Do you have more than 1?
