Rear full width hanging mud flap - retain or remove?
I see several coaches that retain them, and some that have them removed.
Some say that they tend to create turbulence behind them which stirs up road debris which gets eaten by your toad.
I'm entertaining removing mine.

your toad?
I have one and I do not tow a car. I am leaving mine on, I guess it is a personal preference.
I do not agree that it has any negative effects. I don't understand any reason to remove it other than personal preference.

I removed mine a few months ago (August- September) before a 3000 mile trip (Denver-Tacoma-Denver) over several mountain ranges. I think it ran cooler. With it on I routinely ran 205-210 range. After removal I was routinely in the 190-195 range. Max temp I saw on a long pull was about 212. I pulled a toad with a dolly and did not note any increase in rock chips.
Before removing mine I asked the same question on this form and got many different opinions. So this is just my experience. FYI I have a ISL Windsor with a side radiator.

I raised mine up by 1 link. Doesn't hit the ground, hitting rocks, as much or ever now.

I still have the full width mud flap on our coach , I like the way it looks .
We also have one of the plastic nose guards by Roadmaster ( for got the name )
for the toad that does a good job of protecting it .

….agree in general, I like the look but question the functionality of full width flap.....have older flap with some heat deterioration so prompted me to shorten/raise flap....use a DIY fabric protector between RV and toad to minimize road debris/chipping.....
Ps--also believe flap could/does increase heat in engine compartment--but this depends on rear cap design??????

Still running factory flap and no plans to remove, no problems with cooling or rock chips.

Either raise it high or remove it. If you drive on dirt roads that aren’t perfectly flat, dips or bumps will cause it to hit the road and kick up stones. I took mine off and installed new mud flaps behind the wheels.

I did a couple things. PO still had original, but SS surface emblem was bent and scratched up. Found original company ordered just a plane black one. I to raised it up an inch, but I also purchased new rear mud flaps. I order longer ones and a tad wider. Lowered coach all the way down in back, then secured new wheel mud flaps 1inch from ground level.
Still thinking of using either the mesh across flat of your toe bar or plastic shield similar to Blue oxe

I removed mine a few weeks ago. Don't know if it was the right decision, but I'm willing to experiment. Had a few dings on the toad while it was on.

If you have a newer Toad be sure and check the owners manual for information on the fabric toad protector. Mine specifically prohibits it's use with concerns for blocking the air circulation and overheating the transmission.

I say leave it on. We have done over 140,000 miles with this coach alone with it on, including a trip to AK, and have never had any issue. Now ours doesn't drag, it sits up about 3" off the ground at travel height.
