Recommendations on selling MH

Hi All,

My wife and I are looking to downsize and want to sell our 2001 HR Endeavor. It has an 8.3 Cummins with only 65K miles. (MOD EDIT) So I am wondering how to go about selling the MH. Do RV dealerships buy old MH's for parts? The rig is driveable but there are leaks in both slides. If I had the time, I would tear it down and rebuild the body, but I dont.

First thing comes to mind is RVtrader online, that was where we found many used motorhomes when we were shopping a few years ago. Some use local RV dealers who will sell your motorhome on consignment although if your rig has issues they may want it to be fixed first. POPs is another place some have used to sell their motorhome as well, there are other online entities you can list your RV on. The more info and clear photos posted of your rig will garner more interest from potential buyers.

Locally you can try craigslist or facebook and see if anyone bites, problem is sometimes people try to scam or lowball you. There are some RV forums that allow selling of RVs on their website, whichever methods you choose pricing is what overall determines how fast any RV is sold. It took about 2 years to find a motorhome when were shopping, we seen the same motorhomes that were still there a year or longer due to being priced way above current market value. Good luck.

Somebody is looking for a rig just like that. Just a matter of finding them. Are you looking to sell yourself, or hands off through a dealer, consignment etc?

Facebook and marketplace are as good as anything for buyers being able to find you. There will be tire kickers and scammers, but they'll find you on any other listing also.

Thanks for the tips. Prefer to sell to large RV dealer that does full MH service.

I'd think a dealer is going to get you the worst price for a fixer upper, they're not going to fix it, and if they did, they'd take all the profit. I'd be tempted to send it to a local consignment auction, or some place that would sell it on consignment.

In general dealers will not take coaches of that age, not alone bad condition unless it is part of a trade up. One of the reasons "list" prices are so high is t provide room for bad trade ins. If it is in poor condition just way too much lability. Advertise it is few places as other have suggested. You may end up sending to a recycler like Copart's or others that can take RV's. If you do sell be sure the bill of sale or whatever clearly states sold as is, where is. If not a dealer or transport company do not let them drive it away with their insurance and transfer of ownership completed. Don't be too supplied if you end up paying to have it taken away.

99% of RVs of that age have leaks, don't let that talk you down before you even list it. I'd think anything driveable and mostly intact would be $5-10k minimum. If nothing else, find a consignment auction, and contact them far enough in advance that they can include it in their advertising, then advertise it yourself on facebook and craigslist with the time and place of the auction. No dealing with buyers, and very little risk.

I suppose it isnt in as bad of shape as I let on, it drives fine and runs great, the issue is the leaky slides and cosmetic. We all have seen owners having to replace engines, gensets, etc so that is why I was thinking that a major service center would buy it, to resell the motor and other valuable parts.

Maybe I will fix it up a bit and list it myself.

I sold the coach you see on my pic and ID info. I listed it on RVtrader and got very few calls. I put it on Marketplace and got 5 to 1 more interest. Sold it quickly. Be honest, people look for value, mine was a very good RV, I kept track of most everything that I did on the repair and maintenance of it. Buyers liked that.
Good luck on your choice.

One of the biggest problems with selling one that old is financing, you will need a buyer that can pay cash or has their our financing plan set up.

I would list it in the free classifieds here on IRV2, and in RVTrader.com.

Clean it up as much as you can, take lots and lots of pictures. Take pictures of the areas you think need repair also and state that in the add. List all the features and service intervals. Show that you really cared for it.

Use Kijiji, Craigslist, Facebook, as well as the sales feature on this site. Get it out there to as many as you can. Price it sensibly with a little room to wiggle. Everyone likes to get a cut price. Good luck.
