Some info about what your trying to repair might be a good idea .

Are you looking under the cover from outside ? From out there is where
I was able to repair mine . With the cover extended I can get outside on my knees
and see the mechanism up under the cover .

I have not removed my cover but I have read that the screw heads are buried in
the carpet . You may be able to spot the screws from below then locate them
above .

steep cover

Ray I am trying to get to the motor. i have the steep cover removed. the screws are under the cover need offset screwdriver to remove. the hardware is exposed. remove 2 screws in front of the hardware {under the carpet} and it will slide out; but can't find out how to disconnect the power. thinking about cutting and rewiring. still thinking.

I'm with you on the wires .
I wouldn't spend time trying to find a disconnect , just splice and getter done .
