Question Replacement baggage compartment latches ?

Have not found a source for OEM latches and I would just as soon have an updated version...2000 Dip 38A

Any suggestions?

I have a 2001 38A. I believe we have the same latches on the bay doors
I get mine from VEURINKSRV.COM
they have many parts for our rig. Since we take long trips I always carry spares. If the latch breaks while traveling there is no way to keep the bay door closed while traveling. It happened to me once. Now I always keep a couple of spares.
I hope that helps
Rick

The latch is made by TriMark Corp. The latch on my 2004 Monaco Knight is their #16800-01 (same as 060-0400). These latches are keyed for their double-sided key #2001 but keys are not included - order key(s) separately. Check the number on your other TriMark keys. I recently purchased a pair of these latches and keys directly from TriMark (cost was around $100). Contact Ann.Flatjord@trimarkcorp.com.
Note: The TM500 key is single-sided and is typically the entry door key.

The TM500 is a single sided key. All my bay latches use them. The key code is stamped right on them on my 2001 Diplomat 38A.

I ordered a latch for my HR Ambassador, and they sent me the wrong one. It is similar to the ones in the picture. I can send you a pic and more than happy to sell it to you. send me private message and I can get the information to you.

Anyone install latches to replace the bolted doors on the water/fuel tank bays?

I installed two of the southco locks (with coke machine barell keys) on the screwed shut door on my neptune. I ordered the 2 round locks from Monaco. I did it about 2 or 3 years ago. Makes it much easier to access that area. I also installed a vinyl fence post sleeve crossways inside for my folding ladder. Works great.

I don't have my rig here to look at, so I'm going on memory but as I recall if just the plastic plunger broke that can be replaced. I ordered them directly from Tri Mark at a very reasonable cost. When I initially looked at it I didn't think the plunger was replaceable but it was.

We called Trimark and the rep was helpful in helping us get the exact number for the lock we needed. I almost fell over though when she told me there was a fee of $15 to actually fill the order on top of the cost and shipping and handling. Found ours on line thru an eBay dealer in CA. He had it shipped out within hours of my order. Cost for total was less than the cost of lock from Trimark. Ours required removing the door, and removing the box on the back if the door to get it off.

Yes I forgot to mention the "fee" however in my case replacing the plunger (even with "fee") was much cheaper than replacing the whole handle. Not to mention my handles were painted to match the body. Looked for the plungers elsewhere but could not find it.
