Replacing coolant reservoir on Onan 10KW

My coolant reservoir on my Onan 10KW generator will not hold coolant as it leaks from it appears the bottom. Has anyone had any experience replacing one? It looks as a fairly straight forward remove and replace. Any thoughts?

One word of caution. I have seen many parts changed for leaking, when it was the hose going in that was leaking. Make sure it is the reservoir leaking. It s a simple change.

Richard, one other thing to make sure of if your generator is like my 7.5. On mine the coolant tank is on the driver's side front. The corner screw and one each way from it are a different length than the other top screws. The length is important as if a longer screw is put there, it can puncture the tank.

Mine was leaking where the oil fill/dip stick tube runs through the plastic tank. I went to order a new one and was told they are $250. I went to NAPA and got a generic tank for about $8.00 and some extra hose for $2.00. I mounted the new tank on the frame for the generator door. Has worked good for two years. Easier to see the level also.

Onan has had a problem with these tanks, most split at the bottom where they used a brass fitting that splits the tank.
