Replacing shocks

I need to replace the front shocks on my 99 Monaco Windsor the Monroe number is 66871 after spending the best part of 2 days looking I went to bumper to bumper and was informed by the parts manager after calling Monroe in US that the part number was unavailable as it has been discontinued I checked at JB power for Bilsteins which have to be ordered direct from the manufacture at a cost of $169.00 dollars us per shock. I am unable to cross reference the Monroe number due to the fact that it is obsolete and does not show up on any cross reference. I have searched on the forums here and have found at least three different part nos. for the front shocks that US per shock converts to almost $225.00 ca. per shock there has to be a better alternative. any info will help thanks oilcan 99 Monaco Windsor

There are some listed here;

https://www.sdtrucksprings.com/shock...torhome/monaco

And here;

https://www.shockwarehouse.com/news/...-rv-shocks.cfm

You should probably climb underneath both front and rear to verify mounting;
Eye or Pin at each end of the shocks.

FWIW. The 2002 Diplomat(GVWCC 32,000 lbs) that I have came with Monroe Gas Magnum shock Number 555014(Purchased my replacements at Advance Auto Parts). If you look the spec up, and compare it with the measurements you have for your existing Shocks, that might give you a hint as to the type of replacement (shaft size, tube diameter and overall length, rod extension, etc.) needed. If your coach has a greater CC you may need a heavier Shock and thus the difference in the Part Number. Again, FWIW.

It might be different on the 1999 model, but we replaced the original Monroe shocks on our 2000 Monaco Windsor with Bilstein B6 comforts: 24-187336. The shocks came with an upper mount eye diameter of 18.1mm and 14.5mm for the lower. On our chassis has an upper mount stud of 0.69"/17.53mm diameter so there is a 0.57mm play. Shocks came with an install kit for the lower mount. The new Bilstein's works fine but due to that play it makes noise when you are driving on rough roads.
