i'm looking online but can't seem to nail this down. i want to replace the shocks on my 2000 holiday rambler ambassador 34dps. i want to go with koni's or bilsteins. has anybody changed theirs and what did you go with? i know this is a question that posts frequently but my searches really didn't help.

For more specific recommendations, please tell us exactly what chassis your coach is on.

I installed Bilstein comfort shocks on the front of my 03 Windsor.
Monaco was not consistent so you need to look at yours to see if they have studs or eyes on the tops.
Personally, I would rather have porpoising than stiff shocks that jar your teeth. I think my old worn-out shocks might have been smoother riding

You can find dozen of Koni vs Bilstien threads. Konis are softer riding and smoother also twice the price . I can't remember certain model # for Konis used for fronts of IFS MH.

I think the Holiday Rambler Ambassador is equal to the Monaco Knight.
Do you have a 4 air bag chassis?

Shark Warehouse may be a good place to get the info. But there's a lot of bad reviews on here of them taking people's money and not delivering for months at a time and being difficult to get your money back from them.

Replaced the worn out factory shocks with Koni’s on my coach 10 years ago. Much improved ride and more stable. They are pricey. It still rides firmer than my friends freightliner chassis but that’s just a characteristic of the Roadmaster chassis in my experience.

Monroe Magnums

I've had great luck with these Monroe Magnums on several coaches in the past.

Koni shocks on 4 corners. Much better ride than the worn out factory Monroe shocks. Yes, stiffer, but that translates to less sway and no porpoising. Plus a passing 18 wheeler doesn’t suck & throw my coach around. Installed on a 2004 HR Neptune 35’ dp. Easy install on this rig.

Different Chassis but I took off the "new" (less than 5000 miles) Bilstein's on my RV and replaced them with Koni's 15 years ago and what a difference.

Call Jim at Source Engineering. He is a guru on shock tuning for class A coaches. He worked at the Monaco factory in Oregon. I got a set from him for my '03 Dynasty and noticeably improved ride quality on non smooth roads.

Source also has a ride enhancement kit for that chassis that involves several different components. Might check on that. We had a 01 38 Ambassodor and put Konis on that and it helped quite a bit. Hope this may help, Happy Trails Bert
