Replacing Slideout Roller - how does roller come out of bracket?
I replaced the Roller on my front curbside slideout (the kitchen and sleeper sofa on my coach). I purchased the roller (did not know if it came installed in bracket or not). it did not, which is fine, but I had some trouble trying to get the roller out of the bracket.
I was not able to jack up the slide high enough to get the roller out of the bracket. I ended up having to bend a "tab" down to clear the roller. Then I bent tab back up. It is not clear in the photos but the tab sticks up (maybe 5/16 inch) higher than the surrounding bracket, so bending it down allowed me to pull the roller out in the direction of the tab. This was not the easiest thing to do (bending down. Bending up was not a problem with a heavy drift and hammer). I don't think this is the way the manufacture intended the repair to be done.
Has anyone else replaced a roller on a '05 Beaver/Monaco? did you have any trouble getting it out?
If I could have lifted the slide another inch I think the roller would have come right out, but in my case I was jacking up the slide and lifting the entire side of coach - so I knew it wasn't going any higher.

Don't know if yours works the same as mine, but the pin on one side of the roller is spring loaded. You can push it in to get the roller into the bracket.

Yes, the pin is spring loaded.
I could get the roller's shaft out of the retaining tabs, but could not get the roller all the way out of the bracket because the slideout would not raise high enough. I needed about 3/8" more to clear bracket so I had to bend the tab down.
I was jacking up on the bottom of slideout with a floor jack and using 4x4 to spread load. A few pumps on the jack and I had about 1/2 clearance between the top of the roller and the bottom of the slideout but that was not enough. Some more jacking resulted in the entire side of the coach lifting (gap between rear tires and fender skirt getting bigger) - and I still needed 3/8 inch more clearance.
Maybe I needed to unscrew all the roller adjuster screws on that slide out to get more clearance (I unscrewed the end one I was working on the one next to it). I'm not sure if that would have made any difference or not.

I just did some adjusting on my kitchen slide rollers. I had decided, maybe not correctly, that if I had to replace the rollers, it would be necessary to remove the complete roller adjustment assembly in order to get the roller out and replaced. The two rollers under the cupboards would come out from the inside, the 2 rollers under the couch are accessible from the outside, one in the front wheel well and one in the first bay, fuel bay. I don't think there is enough clearance in the slide opening to change the rollers, like you did or by removing the complete adjusting bracket. Hope this may help. Happy trails Bert

I had to replace a roller last year. The new roller came with the base plate already attached. But I couldn't get the slide up high enough to get the whole thing out. After talking to many people and brain stormed for several days, the whole slide had to come out of side of coach. Turned out not as bad as it sounds, but still is a lot of work.
Not something you wanted to hear.
