Residential fridge
I have a 99 Diplomat and the norcold finally went no-cold. My question has anyone ever changed to the residential fridge in this year model motorhome? I know some have in newer models.

I just finished mine on a '99 Damon Escaper. It's a lot of work, but worth it.

It is not just plug and play but pretty much any RV can take a residential fridge. There are some considerations like; size of opening for fridge and your general power usage / your present power systems.
If you post the size of your present fridge you can get some recommendations of possible residential units.

If you can fine one that fits, go for it. One thing. If your fridge is close to where you sleep, make sure it's a quite one. We have a Fridgaire and it's very quite. I would know.

I installed a RF197 in a 99 Windsor with the suburban propane heater underneath and lower ceiling like your Dip, I assume. I had a narrow hallway at frig location so a french door would work, not over and under style with full width doors. It was a very tight fit but worked out great.

The Haier fit right in perfectly with no cutting at all. Had to use an aluminum L bracket double face taped and screwed to the header to prevent tipping. Capped off the LP and water line. Could not have been simpler.
Way more capacity and makes ice epic fast...

We just replaced our Dometic with a Frigidaire in our 1993 Monaco. Much more room inside, stays a stable temperature and it is very quiet .... uses less electric too than the Dometic did. Gotta love it when your batteries last longer.
