Ride Height Adjustment Question

I am about to check and possibly adjust the ride height on our 2005 Endeavor. I have read many post and think I know what to do to make any required adjustments. My question is, can you use the hydraulic jacks as safety jacks when making the adjustments? I would think you could set them just above the pavement when fully aired up and this would serve as safety jack stands. What do you experts think? Has anyone tried this?

I would like to bring up a few points. Many air suspension coaches dump the air when the jacks are energized ,if this is not the case then there is the issue of relying on the jacks for safety. This is not recommended by any manufacturer and as a A.S.E. certified technician I would advise against it, with that being said, it's better than nothing.

Our HWH jacks have 4-12,000# rams, certainly enough to support the entire weight of the rig and I do leave the front tires off the ground for months at a time and they have never let the rig down.
But, being under there is another story! Cribbing, blocks, jack stands etc!!

I am mainly interested in adjusting the rear valves to correct left to right ride height. These valves are located near the edge of the MH as opposed to the front valve which is located in the middle. Can you adjust the rears without getting very far under the MH? I plan to air it up today and try to see how accessible the valves are.

The rear ride height valves are too far inboard to adjust without being underneath the coach, I am fairly skinny and can usually fit under the axle housing, and it wont get any lower, so I am able to adjust them on flat ground.

As others have said, use some blocking under the levelers without lowering them if you want to use them as a safety net. This is just in case the coach looses air pressure before you can get fingers / hands / arms out from any suspension components before the coach settles. If you are planning on using a creeper to role around under the coach it's even more important for added safety, because those few inches in height difference may be all it takes for you to get out from underneath or to breathe if it looses air.

I have never used anything but I also roll out of the creeper before doing any adjusting, to check blow all the air out of the air bags and slide under the rear without a creeper to prove to your self that its room you will need to go to the rear close to the end of the coach to be able to enter under the coach because of the side skirts.
