Ride Height Camelot 42 2009
Ok, I found my Valid leveling issue, a bad solenoid valve.
Now I want to bring it in and have ride height set, and an alignment. Then I will have the windshield resealed seeing that it popped out when the leveler went haywire.
I've searched for the definitive answer on what my ride height should be for an '09 42kfq and haven't found it for sure, I am sure other years are the same also. I called Monaco and they said "sorry we didn't build that coach so we don't know". Does anyone know the specs so I can make sure the shop has the right ones.
Thanks in advance!

I assume you have a valve for each side; can't you measure the ride height from the other side and match it?

I could do that but I suspect that both sides are low in the back, one is just lower, so matching them would still leave it low. It would be nice to get it where it should be with no guessing.

That is interesting, I've never ran across the tag needing to be lifted. I guess that is why I would like to find out how it is supposed to be done properly. thanks for the reply! I think I will see how close I am to that now and see if it makes sense side to side and front to back.
I wonder how critical say a 1/2" really is?

Bee the procedure is to start in the rear( if you dont raise the tag how can you set the ride height as you know the tag is adjustable) after the rear then do the front then blow the air out all the way start the coach get it back to travel height shut the engine off and remeasure. I dont think 1/2 inch is that critical but what is critical is greasing the drive shaft regularly including the shaft slide the, old Monaco said by every 10,000 miles or sooner.
And your measurements are taken on the air bags, top of bottom flange to bottom of top flange.

My educated guess based on 04-08 RR10S chassis having the same airbags is 9”. Doubt a 09 would be different and raising the tag should not make any difference other than taking a higher psi to support the higher weight.
I would want it less than 1/2”...closer to 1/4”. Some say the 9” is measured inside the mounting plates and others say including the plates...a 1/2” difference. I looked at the range of motion of the airbag and set mine to 9” inside the plates.

I don't know the comparable model but this might help.

Thank You so much. I agree from what I've found last night too, I'm going 9", I saw 8 13/16 also but that's pretty close anyway.
I can't see away to get under there to adjust without a pit, but if I can do it with the tag lifted I can take the tag tires off possibly, I just did this weekend to be able to reach the tag solenoids I had to replace. It was the only safe way to get it done, but then again I had to block it all up for that so maybe I'll just bring it in. I would be interested if anyone found a way to reach the valves on these tag axles.

At normal ride height, I place a heavy duty piece of steel between the frame and suspension just forward of the drives on each side. It cannot fall on you with these in place. Then I just scoot under in front of the differential and sit in there to adjust the valves. Nothing can happen unless both tires blow out on one side.
Good question about the tag. I don't think the height would be accurate with the tag lifted. I adjust to 9" which is the removable part of the bag.

I've been under there but from in front of the differential it is low and tight, maybe I need to lose some weight? That H frame is pretty low, maybe partially because of the low ride height, I'll look at it again though. I'm pretty good at this stuff being a master auto tech in my other life, I just didn't see a good way, I do have a good way to have it blocked up.
I think I am understanding the rear bags will keep inflating to ride height with tag up or down. I also am now wondering if the tags will come off the ground more when the height is increased where it should be, now they someitmes come off the ground just a bit. Not that it matters.

I set front and rear at 8 1/2, made a hard steel bent piece of metal. Measured between top and bottom mounting plate for air bags.
