Angry Rt 66 warranty BEWARE

Beware if you buy a Rt 66 Classic Coach warranty. Beware of the small hidden print. Our rear air conditioner went out and had to be replaced. They paid for the new unit,no problem. They wouldn't pay for a conversion kit to make it work, they wouldn't pay for shipping on the unit. I guess they expect you to drive and pick it up yourself. They wouldn't pay for a new thermostat. It went when the unit went. They said they do not cover corrosion. More like burned out connectors. I guess I'm lucky they covered the unit, but you hate to be nickled and dimmed ($487.46 out of pocket). Look over the exclusion clause very close.

I have yet to see a service policy (not a "warranty" no matter what they call it) pay for shipping on parts. I suspect they didn't cover the conversion kit and thermostat because they're upgrades. Corrosion is a maintenace (lack of) item and not covered either.

Rt66 warranty beware

How are you supposed to get the parts if their not shipped? Just another way for the warranty co. to save money. Thermostat and conversion kit upgrades? The new air unit would not work without them. Maintenance on a thermostat? Never heard of that? Just pointing out when you buy a policy READ THE SMALL PRINT.

I can't speak to the shipping, but I think as far as the conversion, what you need to do (and ideally this is one up front) is tell them they can replace with the newer unit and conversion kit for $X, or they can repair the old unit that is no longer available, which will cost $X+(a whole lot more because it's a very labor intensive process).

Doing it after the fact is tougher, but going forward I have found in virtually any insurance/warranty/etc conversation that approach generally brings the answer you want.
