Running a new wire
I need to run a new wire from the license plate area to the front of my 2011 Knight. If you've done this, how did you do it?

When we were running some new wires for the camera and other things, Thom has taken his time under the coach to see where others have been put. Looked over CAD drawings (or at least what drwgs we have found ) and did everything he could do to make sure that he would not interrupt anything that should not be interrupted. To run the wire only took a few mins but he took about 3 hours or more just that day to plan the run.

My 08 Camelot had three spare wires incorporated into the factory harness, from the front run bay to the engine bay. Look in your front run bay for wires marked "Spare 1," "Spare 2," etc. Mine were doubled over and secure with wire ties.

What I need to do is add a video RCA wire from front to back. Also I need to have 12v when ignition is on.

I ran my "extra" needed wires along the bottom of the coach using tie wraps to attach to angle iron. deSanford PS also put plastic material made to cover wires from Home Depot.

If your coach is anything like ours it has pipe chases from just in front of the rear axle almost to the front axle. You should be able to identify them by the bundles of cables entering and exiting these chases. I ran a new video cable for a camera through one of the chases with the help of an electrical snake. First unwind more than enough of the snake tape to go from front to back and then crawl under the coach and push the tape through the pipe. Have the new cable ready and stretched out on the ground in front of the coach. I prefer to install the cable in split loom before pulling it. Using electrical tape attach the new cable to the end of the fish tape and then go to the rear and pull the cable through the pipe chase. Rout the cable to the location of your choice being careful to avoid moving suspension parts. Use cable ties to attach the cable.
I have been asked in the past what is split loom so here is an example:
Buy Wireless Solutions - Split loom, automotive grade, 1/4" diam./50' , from Wireless Solutions for $7.10 only at ProTelecomSupply.com.
Here is an example of a fish tape:
