I think for starters we need to get this cabinet opened up and see what's hiding up there. Give this Gal a crow bar

First things first... if I read this correctly, the existing cable already works fine for the satellite receiver. Is this correct? What you're trying to do is set it up so you can also use park cable service when it's available?

If so, then most of the advice in this thread, while good intentioned, is looking at it backwards. Most people here are talking about what you have to do to convert over a park cable setup to use for a satellite receiver. The issue is that most park cable runs go through switches, amplifiers, splitters, or other units that are incompatible with a satellite signal. That's not the issue here if it already works with a satellite receiver.

If all you want to do is run park cable in and you already have a working satellite antenna feed, then the easiest answer is K7JV's suggestion: a pair of diplexers: Channel Master 4001IFD Satellite Diplexer Separator Mixer VHF/UHF CM4001IFD 950 -2150 with DC Pass High Performance In-line IF Satellite Diplexer Digital Video Signal, Part # 4001-IFD

They look like regular cable splitters, but they are different. These let you combine a satellite signal plus a regular antenna/cable signal into one cable, and then split it out again. Besides a pair of diplexers, you'll need a few short pieces of coax cable with connectors. The best part is that you won't need to run a new cable through the insides of the coach!

Start at your outside bay with one of the diplexers. Hook the IN/OUT port to the existing cable that runs to your receiver. Hook the SAT port to your satellite dish antenna, and hook the VHF/UHF port to the park cable. (See "Outside Application" portion of image below.)

Now, back at the receiver, disconnect the cable running to the satellite receiver and connect it to the IN/OUT port of the second diplexer. Connect the SAT port to the satellite receiver, and connect the VHF/UHF port to the antenna input of your TV or the cable input of your switch box. (See "Inside Application" portion of image below.)

That's a great solution, I didn't know there was such a thing. Every park I've been in but one had lousy cable. I just put out the tailgater and always get a good picture. I ran another line like I told the OP, but it did not help.

Thanks Adam for this info and confirming K7JV's response. This is exactly what we need to do. Your detailed reply was so helpful. And just think ......no crowbars or big hammers needed

Hmmm... you almost sound disappointed...

Good luck, enjoy your satellite and cable service!

Often Monaco wired these motorhomes with the wrong type of coaxial cable to pass satellite signals. In our 2004 coach Monaco used video cable rather than RF cable. This type of cable (video that is) has no foil wrap around the foam center dielectric and the braid is copper vs steel, usually 60 to 95%. RF cable (needed for satellite and television antennas) has the foil around the dielectric foam and is 60% steel braid. The resulting effect of the wrong cable being used is poor image quality on antenna, insufficient satellite signal getting to the receiver, a tearing image on your video pictures and no ability to use HDTV converters to run run the signals from the front to the back of the MH. Do you know what type of COAX is in your motorhome?
