Rusting Mirror mounts

Has anyone out there have a problem with the mirrow mounting brackets rusting on Monaco coaches? I have met at least 2 other Monaco owners that have this problem. Mine are going to have to be recheomed.
Is this common or an isolated problem? I am aware MH manufactors use some cheap suppliers, but seems like chrome should last longer than 5-6 years.

Never heard of this mirror problem. You are speaking of the outside "rear view" mirrors?

My 04 Sig's mirror mounts started to rust also. They are Velvac mirrors on mine and I called them and ordered new ones. Much cheaper than refinishing the old ones. Not hard to install either.

Problem is chrome over pot metal that has not been properly cleaned. It only shows up on the mount that connects to the coach. The rest of the mirror seems ok, just the pot metal mount that enables the chrome to peal. Poor design in my opinion regarding the material used for the mount.

Google Space Coast Plating. David Pratt is the owner and a Monaco owner. If you ship yours to him, he will clean it up and re Crome it for about $150. They look great when he finishes. He did one of mine almost 3 years ago and it still looks new.

I would be curious to know if the rusting issues are with one brand or another. My coach has the Ramco mirrors and I have one tiny 1/8'" pock mark on the underside of the driver's mirror that has been there for about a year, but hasn't grown.

Mine are Velvac brand. Same as the others I have seen. I will do something this winter after I get in off the road.

Add my Ramco mirrors to the list. Called Ramco to see if I could get the support arms only. They said no. The mirrors are undamaged.

Both of my velco mirror housings are peeling, along with the mounts. Doesn't look bad at 15 feet

Mine are Velvac, and the bases that attach to the MH are peeling badly (pot metal). I've been thinking about having them repaired. It's a shame to have to replace the whole mirror assembly.

Call these folks:

SpaceCoast Plating in melbourne florida

They will do a first class re-plate for about $150 each.

David Pratt owns the company and is a coach owner.

I've been looking at used Signatures and Executives. All of them have pitted mirrors. East coast coaches are worse than west coast.

Decided to have them powder coated Black

A place in Tampa wanted $700 to rechrome the set. I found a company in Auburndale that does powder coating and will do both sides for $80. A lot of the newer coaches are coming out with Black powder coated mirrors, looks great..
