replaced motor and control modual on step. open the door and step extends . close door and blows 25 amp motor fuse. i must have wired wrong, can anyone help me

Watch the steps from underneath when you close the door to see where or how it is binding. Clean all hinge points and lube them. When you put the new one on did you have the arm in the same direction/position as when you removed it?

The motor is polarized, meaning the +12VDC switches from one wire to the other, depending if the motor is going 'forward' or 'reverse'. Since it works one way, and not the other, look for a pinched wire coming from the motor to the controller. The main power wire to the controller can't be bad, otherwise it would blow the fuse either way the step moves.

If you have not found your problem yet, do you have any type of carpet on your steps. I had this problem and the carpet was to thick and binding when the steps folded all the way in. Although carpet looks nice, it does cause issues when steps fold in and will cause the fuse to blow because the motor is still trying to close steps tighter when they will not move anymore.
