Safari Cheetah power step issue

Hello,

We have a 2006 Safari Cheetah that is having issues with the power entrance steps. When we close our door the steps sound like they are going in and out for around 5 seconds before settling. I was hoping someone can help me. I am not sure if it is the motor or linkage.

The steps are Coach Inc. and the motor number is 300-1460.

Thank you,

David

Mine started doing the same thing and I found that the worm gear on the motor and drive assembly was wore out and the teeth were loosing contact. Ended up replacing the drive assembly.

Check the door contact switch too. Maybe its not making a good contact.

Be sure you lubricate the steps thoroughly with silicone lubricant! Mine get slow and sometimes won't go all the way in or out. The lubrication always gets them going.

Or the controller mounted under the steps. My steps were acting weird, especially after getting wet. The controller is not sealed. Replaced the controller with a new one, sealed, and weird acting stopped.

I went thru 3 controllers before I got smart and moved it up and away from the splash-and-trash area behind the front wheel. No issues since.
