Safe-T-Plus ??
Anyone have any thoughts about the product called Safe-T-Plus versus other steering control products on the market.
Am considering having it installed on my '98 HR 38WDS to combat the coach's sway from winds, passing trucks, etc.
Is it worth the investment?

Numerous existing threads have covered this and the answer is yes.

I had an old DP, which was like driving a Kamikaze - - it was dangerous in all conditions.
Wanting to "tighten" up the steering I installed a Blue Ox Tru-Center.
It did not do much for me. It didn't tighten the steering and I was still all over the road.
With all this said, perhaps I expected more than I should have from the Tru-Center steering stabilizer. I never did use the steering wheel centering option it had as I rarely drove in strong cross winds or highly crowned roads. We have strong gusts here in the Midwest, key word "gusts".
Now we have a new gas rig. It drives straight and true. I get very little blow by from trucks if any at all from most trucks. Handles the wind gusts like a champ.
But - - and there is always a but!! LOL Wind can be an issue.
The motor home drives sooooo much better than my old DP but wind still can grab the "big box" now and again......and make a long drive tiring.
So - - I am considering installing a Safe-T-Plus to relieve some of the stress of wind driving on long trips.
I read mostly positive reviews on iRV2 - - lots of thoughts about them on here - just search.
For what it's worth, I was at the FMCA Rally last weekend in Indianapolis and priced a Safe-T-Plus steering stabilizer and install brackets from the manufacturer. It can be bought cheaper on Amazon.
Good luck,
g

Just installed on our Baystar, I think it is definitely worth it. Will get a 800mile + workout starting Friday.

Somehow we made it this far without one but to each his own !
if it helps, is it possible it is correcting underlying problems that can be fixed otherwise?
do you have the right psi in your tires ?
alignment, front and rear, correct ?
bad shocks?
poor side to side loading of the rv ?
just throwing out some ideas, hope they help...

Do a search on Safe-T-Plus. It has been discussed many times. Also check out monacowatts.com.

Fasten your seatbelt Fluffyms, you are heading into turbulent waters. As others already stated, there are lots of existing threads on this topic already. While the Safe-T-Plus is a good addition to any coach it is worth noting one of the primary purposes of products like this is to help minimize the coach from sudden severe directional changes from events like a front tire blow out.
There are lots of dynamics that cause a coach to wander and sway and it is important to look at all areas before just bolting on bandaids. Van Williams has done extensive research into this topic and this thread is perhaps one of the most comprehensive discussions on the subject. There are over 2,000 posts but if you start at the beginning and read a few of Van's posts you'll begin to get a good idea of what is going on. If it grabs you're interest I suggest you continue to surf that thread as there have been continued developments over time to include crossbars and watts links. Great stuff pioneered by Van, Craig, Mike Hughes and many others.
As you'll see, the symptom may be wandering and swaying but the cause may have nothing to do with the steering. Just food for thought before you begin your journey into correcting the issue.
For what its worth... I have a Safe-T-Plus on my coach and happy I do in the event of a blow-out. I also have the rear crossbars that Van designed and that provided a significant improvement in wandering.

Check the bell crank first. The original is not serviceable and will cause jerky steering. And to the question yes on my 2000 helped immensely.

Make sure you have the front end aligned. I recommend it. Might take a adjustment or two to get it set right.

What Glen said, and well said Glen.
I grew up in the trucking industry and it is for blow out protection only. It will act as a dampener otherwise but Safe-T-Plus is a blow out protection devise.
I have given seminars to over 250 coach owners and there is a LOT of misinformation out there concerning the Roadmaster chassis.
Read, learn, and make an educated, owner proven, choice when it comes to improving a coach. Please remember ride and handling are two totally different subjects with two totally different solutions.
I also have a Sate-T-Plus on my coach.
Cheers,
Craig

We weren't happy with our coach handling which had 102k mikes when we bought it.
After a trip to a Henderson Lineup in Oregon we solved it.
1. TRW steering box needed adjusted
2. U joint on steering box replaced ( worn)
3 added their Safty Steer.
4 after they 4 corner weighed, we adjusted the PSI in our new Toyo tires.
Improvement was really noticeable but she still tended to have a "wallow"
Added all new Bilaien shocks.
She now drives like a dream no matter what the conditions. If it was safe you could steer her with one or Two fingers on the wheel.
I recommend their inspection and customer service to anyone
