Sanicon question
We recently bought a '08 HR Endeavor with the sani-con system built in. I tried it out today flushing out the gray water tank into my home sewer clean out. Works great..until I finished and removed the jumper slinky from the tank drain connection. Thats when all the water that was still in the slinky came running back out.
So what am i missing.. how do you prevent that?

Same here, never removed it until the pump failed one day, it was a mess. A word of caution, ALWAYS try the pump on the gray water 1st, then drain the black tank, then finish with the gray tank. If you have a failure, it will be much easier to handle.

Also, if you plan on constantly using the Sani-con, like I do, be very careful what goes into your holding tanks. I even have a very fine mesh cover over the shower drain, to keep hair getting to the pump to a minimum.

I intended to use both depending on the situation.

I don't know what using both means. Make sure you empty the gray last. After draining lift the hose up so all the water drains out. Take the end out of the sewer and put the cap on. (hope you have a cap) Take nothing apart. Stuff the pipe and end into your cabinet.

I use both but usually rely on the sani-con when I need to pump uphill. When that happens I open the gray to test the pump then close the gray and open the black. After the black empties I finish with the gray. When the gray is empty I run water in a sink to clean most of the hose. I then close the gray, take the sani-con off the 3" pipe and hold it high as possible. I then turn on the outside shower and the sani-con pump and flush out the sani-con pipe as much as possible or as soon as I see the pump running clear. It's a pain but makes it a little cleaner next time I have to pump uphill.

I use a FLo-Jet portable,, You **MIGHT** be able to slightly modify your install to be more like mine.. But here is how mine is done
From RV I hook up a 5" "extension" this is clear plastic so I can see what is in it.. The Flo-Jet goes on the bottom of that.
Once I've dumped the flo-jet has a fresh water inlet.. I hook up a pressure hose (Mains my rinse hose which has paranoid grade backflow protection) and shoot in fresh water, I continue run the pump with FRESH WATER long enough to insure only fresh water is in the long black hose.. I then shut off fresh water, Disconnect, run the pump dry and disconnect.
In your if it will fit. And I seriously stress that IF you want to put one of the following between tank and pump hose: (Note: The product linked is a 45 degree Elbow.. They also come in straight and different bends)

Two things:
1-Lifting the hose to drain let it empty is important; and then put the screw on cap on the nozzle end. Nothing can leak out then. If you are missing the little cap, get a new one. Important.
2- I always drain the black tank first; then turn off the macerator and open both the black and grey valves together. Give the system 2-3 minutes to equalize the water levels, close the grey valve and start the macerator again. When the tank empties this time shut off the macerator again and open the grey valve a second time. Allow the remaining water to equalize again. I usually repeat this process three times, then leave both valves open and pump the tanks dry. Shut down the macerator, lift the hose to drain it, install the end cap.
Great system....

Mine came with one. Never had a need to pump uphill.

Thanks for the all the responses. I occasionally have the need to pump uphill, such as at my home and at the spot we will spend some time next week with no sewer hookups. I have a portable tank I can use to ferry gray water to the dump as needed and it will indeed be helpful to have it for that.
Otherwise, it looks like the Sani-con can be rather messy if I want to switch between the pump and the slinky. I'll just have to be careful to hold the hose up when I remove it from the tank valve outlet as mentioned above.
Again, just wanted to be sure i was not missing something about the overall operation.

Thanks..just ordered the 45 and 90 degree Valterra units from Amazon. I have a tight wet bay so don't know which unit will work and I'll return the one I don't use.
Thanks again

Sorry, but I can't imagine why you would want to use the 3" line if you got a macerator sani-con because it is such a mess to switch !
and as far as letting the black tank and grey tanks 'equalize' - imho, that is a real no-no... you are letting black 'stuff' into your grey tank :(
why not just use the flush for the black tank ?
Again, havign difficulty understanding the logic behind those two positions - but to each his own.
