Sanitizing Fresh Water System

I am getting ready to de-winterize my 2004 Dynasty Chancellor with Aqua-Hot.
How much bleach do I need to add to the fresh water tank and can you add too much bleach if I do a lot of flushing of the system? I will flush out the anti-freeze prior to adding the bleach. Is there a better product to sanitize the system.

Thanks in advance for any suggestions and or advice.

There is a formula for the proper bleach/water solution and other sanitizing info in this video:

BTW I have only sanitized my fresh water system only twice in the 15 years I've owned my coach, (once in '01 when it was new to me and once in 2013).

¼ cup 5% bleach to each 15 gallons of fresh water capacity. But the new bleach may be stronger too, I haven't looked at a bottle lately. I buy mine at Costco or even Dollar Tree so it's probably the 5% stuff.

I don't bother draining or flushing antifreeze first. I do this in the spring as the de-winterization and getting ready for the season.

I put 1/2 cup of bleach in my fresh tank and then add 20-30 gallons of water.

I start with the hot water faucet and run it until I smell bleach, this may take a few minutes as the water heater will need to fill, I then run the other hot faucets and then the cold faucets. don't forget the shower and flush the toilet a few times.

I then go for a short drive to slosh it around in the tanks, this also give the sanitation solution time to sit in the pipes.

Drain the lines or run the water until the tank is empty. Refill the tank with about 30 gallons of water and flush out the bleach solution.

If your MH is similar to mine, I put this procedure on my web site.

Mel S, Mr. D, and Walter 21,

Thanks for the quick reply and information about cleaning up my fresh water system. The video was especially informative. Hope I can return the favor someday.
