I have a Dometic/Sealand 3100 (I believe that's the model number) electric flush toilet, and the water is no longer staying inside the bowl - it's suddenly completely leaking out within 2-3 hours time. I see that you can replace the flush ball rubber seal, but the service mode switch on its circuit board doesn't function. When switching the toggle switch, nothing happens and then the functionality of the toilet completely stops working, requiring me to cut 12VDC power in order to get the toilet to work again.

Also, the instruction PDF mentions that there's an opening in the side of the toilet where you can manually open the flush ball. However, the positioning of the nut inside the opening doesn't allow you to properly get a tool on it to turn it, so that's unable to be used.

How can I replace the flush ball seal in this instance?

You can get a new control board now. but you should be able to manually open it using a large flat blade screwdriver (if a socket wont fit).

Manual override disconnects the motor from any electrical connections so you can use a screwdriver/socket to manually open/close the flapper through the hole in the porcelain on the left side (facing the bowl), if you have one.

Service Mode opens the flapper and holds it there till you return the switch to the center position.

I had our toilet out and disassembled the mechanism from the porcelain. When I put it back together, I made sure it was assembled correctly and use Plumbers Grease on the rubber seal and the flapper.

Now it will hold water in the bowl for days.

Service Mode should open the flapper to allow you to clean the bottom of the rubber seal and apply plumbers grease to help it seal.

To change the seal you have to remove the toilet and remove the mechanism from the porcelain.

Be careful tightening the three J-bolts holding the mechanism to the porcelain. They only require a very light torque setting. On mine the torque setting was marked on a sticker on the inside of the porcelain. I think it was 21 or 27 in-lbs, or less than 2 ft-lbs. if you overtighten them, your run the risk of breaking the mounting tabs off the porcelain, which likely means replacing the toilet.

I cleaned and lubed my original seal when I had the toilet out and apart and it is holding water for days. I did order the seal, but now carry it as a spare.

Thank you to everyone for the replies! I ended up pouring a few cups of straight, undiluted CLR PRO into the bowl and kept adding more as it leaked, and it eventually held the liquid without leaking down. I left the undiluted CLR soak overnight, flushed it thoroughly and it's now holding water without any issue! I purchased a bottle of the Thetford toilet seal conditioner on Amazon ($8), and that has been soaking for two days to condition the seal. So, to everyone reading this thread - definitely try this first!

Another trick to keep it sealing is to spray a few shots of water mixed with Blue Dawn dish soap into it daily and let sit. This prevents the hard water build up and acts like a lubricant.

I took a Qtip and put some silicon grease on the seal and it has held water for years. Every once in a while I use the Qtip and clean it out.

I took mine out and put it in the dumpser! put in a regular rv toilet.
