Roy,

Yes I have been following the sway thread and the good luck with cross braces and towing a toad. My handling seems worse when I tow my truck, you know the one. My problems is A LOT of steering play and I am chasing the tail with the front some times, Vanwill and I talked about this at great length in Perry. I have driven other coaches gas and diesel with big winds, even this last weekend a 37 foot HR gasser with no real issues so I do not think it is my ability to drive the coach. 10,000 miles this past year. I have had my coach in 40mph direct 90 degree cross winds and it is WORK but you still feel in control. I also was going to order shocks from eshock after talking to Harry and Hienrich but I am thinking really hard about the Source Bilstein shocks, they are big $$$, even more than the Koni's. I saw and example of them compared to the comfort Bilstein at the Perry FMCA Rally and the size difference is HUGE. I will keep you and the forum posted. Safe travels my friend.

Craig,

I was not aware the Source shocks are larger diameter. I had only understood that the valving was tuned more exactly to the Roadmaster chassis spring rates. It will be interesting to hear what your experience is if you get them. My experience on I-5 sounds like what you describe. My coach was under control but I did have a few white knuckle moments when the cross wind became unmasked as I was passed or as I passed a big rig. Debbie sure noticed and didn't seem pleased as I recall. (I can always tell by her look. ) She also didn't like the big bounce when we hit the dips. Although I don't have any direct comparison other than my memory, I recall that our Winnebago 34V DP 4-bag Freightliner handled a good bit better than this Monaco, although a much harsher ride. On the other hand, this Monaco is much smoother and quieter and just feels heavier. But as was mentioned above, has a good bit more "sail area". Say Hi to Angie and safe travels to you.

Roy...DH told me about this earlier this week.
There is A HUGE difference between the shocks you got and the Source shocks. He did a lot of shock exchanges with test drives in between before we got it right.
You have our number -call DH with any questions.
(PS- DH got to be pretty darn fast at switching them out- I am sure we have tips to doing the job easily! )

Hey Don what about those dreaded expansion joints on the bridges my Diplomat will almost jar your teeth out. I have the original monroes still on. My question will the koni's do anything to help this or is this just something I will have to live with?

If you have the original monroe shocks almost any shock you choose will make a significant improvement in ride and handling. If you have Goodyear tires on the front and have to run 115 to 120 lbs of air to prevent rivering then change to another brand of tire so you can run lower air pressure. And finally, I can't stress this enough but what ever you do make absolutely sure you have the ride height set.
