Shower Reno 2002 Endeavor help

I am thinking of a removal and reno of the tube/shower in my 2002 Endeavor. The tub is just useless and getting in and out is a nuisance. Can the tube be removed and a pan type shower installed using the floor level as entry? Is there something under that tube that would prohibit this change? I understand a custom pan and walls would need to be installed which is OK, just don't want to pull it only to find there is no work around.

Is the tub floor lower than the tile floor outside the shower? and if so, how much? Can't tell in the picture.

Is there a small access cover to get to the drains Pee Trap, there usually is. If not do you have access from a basement compartment.

I have an access cover on the front of the shower pan that I have. There is still a slight step up to get into the shower but not bad.

Right off hand I don't see why you couldn't change it out to a shower stall type enclosure. If you look at the brochure for your coach I'd bet there are options to have a shower instead of a tub. In the 2003 brochure that I found it actually lists the Bathtub as an option in every floor plan.

Jim,

I also have that access panel you're talking about right under the shower door. But I think this tub floor is quite a bit lower than the bath tile, so like you said, you might need to access the drain from either outside access door or from the basement.

If the tub is sunken, I think a new sub-floor will have to be constructed to support the new shower pan. Then a custom new pan, walls and enclosure. Drain/waste line will need to be moved, possibly, and the shower faucet will have to be moved up the wall. Hopefully you can get the new pan to cover the floor tile edge so you don't have to deal with a new floor or patching existing.
