Slide awning topper

Could someone please tell me how to reattach a slide topper awning that has pulled out of its track on the coach? (2005 Beaver Marquis) As always, thanks in advance.

Does it need a new rope that goes into the seam?
YouTube is your friend. Usually takes 2 people.

It may be that the seam holding the tubing has ripped out also. Either way, most good upholstery shops can repair it for reinstalling. We still have the originals on our 06 but 2 years ago had to have all four covers removed and resown due to UV deterioration of the stitching. I leave the awing right on the spool and sliding the awning and spool out of the track by laying the spool on the roof. Then the second person can help pull it through the track. Hope this may help. Youtube will have lots of info on installing. Happy Trails Bert

Your Beaver Marquis should have Gerard slide out covers.
The large Girard roller/spring assembly stays attached to the side of the roof. The slide out cover fabric has a loop sewn into it. A small round black plastic cord goes inside the loop. Then the fabric loop slides into a rail out on the slide out.

As someone else mentioned, usually the thread comes unraveled on the original covers. I replaced our covers with Stone Voss covers. They use a special thread and guaranty their work.

This is a link on how to replace the slide out covers: https://www.irv2.com/forums/f115/rep...rs-372644.html

I too have had to pull mine and resew the seams due to the thread breaking down.

There is a long loop or flap that is sewn over down the edge that attaches to the motor home, and another that is trapped in the roll up mechanism. You have to slide a thin flexible rod or a tube into the loop and slide all of that into a cavity and the rod or tube prevents the loop from pulling free.

If the loop has failed you have to take it off and have it re-sewn. Anyone with a sewing machine can fix it as it is right at the edge, the cross seams are a different story. Had to re-sew them by hand.

To make the job a little easier yo can go to anyplace that sells hydraulic stuff (hose and fittings) and get a length of thin tube. I think it was 3 milimeter, but if you take in a bit of what it came with they can give you a slightly smaller size - trust me, this makes it easier to put back.

The trick is unwinding the spring and not hurting yourself. Check out this link:https://www.toughtopawnings.com/blog...d-slide-topper

Re-sewing lasted a short time for mine. They tore eventually.

We fulltime and live in Central Florida. The sun really beats the covers. The Stone Vos replacements are an absolute cut to fit perfect solution.

They will get measurements from you making sure you have full coverage.

Installing them can be a two person job but one can do it with the right scaffolding. Doing it on ladders by oneself is a recipe for disaster.

And I can tell you from experience they can cause a lot of damage to your hand if you are not extremely careful.
