Slide Floor Problem

2005 HR endeavor. This is a pic of the outside front corner just under the couch. The plywood looks like its rotting but I have never seen any signs of water. Looks and feels solid from the top. I moved the couch and pulled back the corner carpet. All I see is a white plastic sheet. Before I dig further I was looking if anyone has had this problem? Is the floor just carpet, white plastic, 3/4" plywood then the aluminum sheet underneath? Any surprises I should be looking for as I start taking it apart? Thanks

This is a common problem with Monaco/HR products of our coach's era.

If the rot has not gone too far into the floor, you dig out the rotted wood, replace it, then apply Guardian Plates, made by Talin Manufacturing. See these links for more details:

Talin Manufacturing - Case Studies
Talin Manufaturing - Educational Videos

I have made that repair to our coach.

You sure that's aluminum on the bottom?

Pretty sure mine aren't.

Definitely a candidate for Guardian Plates!

I wouldn't take anything apart just yet. This is a perfect candidate for the guardian plates as already mentioned.

X2 with Guradian Plates. One roller on the bedroom slide started to cut into the laminate underside of the slide. Guardian plates did the trick. Luckily no rot as I caught it early on to avoid the added headache.

I was able to force a good amount of tight bond wood glue in the opening we had.. both sides had come down.. Then I put a 2X6 under the floor and a 2x4 down onto my floor jack. pushed the floor up tight and cleaned off the excess glue that squeezed out.. next day removed the jack and wood and it has been in place the last couple years..

I've been watching the videos. If the flat floor is 1" wood are they still useing rivets into the wood? I would think screws. Anyone install one of these?

Yeah, the stainless rivets that come with the plates work well.

The stainless rivets work well, but you need a good rivet gun. Those little single hand held guns at Lowes isn't going to work. They are made for soft aluminum rivets. Talin use to sell a good one at a very reasonable price, but Harbor Freight or internet will work too.

Yeah, I could search for my invoice from Talin, but I think it was only about $25USD for the two armed rivet gun, and was definitely needed for these decent sized rivets!!
