Slide out gear broken
Our slide out gear is broken. Does anyone know where to get spare parts?

If the info I sent you via email is not correct -- Call rvupgrades -- They have Lippert parts -- I have a gear, but being the correct one would be a long shot -- That`s southern talk for iffy -- Bill Willard

You can get the gear pack from Lippert Electric and Hydraulic Slide-Out Parts

Henrik -- Do you recall seeing the jack & stand that I rigged to raise the slide up so I can replace the gear pack -- All that`s needed is take the pressure off the gears, & then you can unbolt the keepers -- Bill Willard

On this page there are two mounting styles that differ from each other by model year. You have to be careful because our 08 coach has one of each installed on it. I'm not sure if they are interchangeable. Are you in the states already?

I have written to Lipperts customer service and asked them for a spec - I think I will wait till I hear from them.
No - we are in sunny Denmark at the moment. Our friend Benny is driving the RV. He is at The Keys in Florida right now. We will arrive in Orlando in exactly one month from today.

They are interchangeable -- Although the gear packs look alike, it`s the gear that`s different - Different gear pitch, more teeth, less teeth -- Got to order by your coach vin # -- Bill Willard

My friend in our RV got the new part. It would seem that it is only possible to buy the entire gear assembly, although we only needed the gear itself with 15 teeth. Seems strange as other Lippert gears are sold separately.
He has now installed it but when he took the slide out, it stopped with a very loud and metallic crunching noise. Right now he is not aware if the new gear has broken a tooth, and he is afraid to take the slide in again.
What is it that makes the motor stop when the slide is extended to where it should go? There don't seem to be any pressure switches that is activated. Is it a case of when the motor reach a certain resistance/torqued it will stop?
UPDATE:
My friend now reports that the brand new gear assembly have broken a tooth . The gear only lasted for seconds.
This, I assume, can only be down to the motor not stopping before it is too late and overloads the gear.
How to prevent this?

Would this bolt (in the middle of the photo) have anything to do with stopping the slide?
I am in doubt, because even it it does stop the slide I would have thought that the motor is still trying to turn the gear at the point where the slide is max out?
At the moment to bolt is 2mm from hitting the stop when the slide is 100% out.

That bolt is for the extend stop. I think there is one on each ram. I just replaced my rear gear a couple of months back, it is very important that the gear racks be timed with eachother, easy to do, but also easy to screw uo. If the gears aren' timed correctly, the slide will notseal evenly when in the extended and retracted positions.
