Slide out on a 2011 Monaco Vesta MoHo
Last week I was finally able to go to the Monaco/REV western service center in Coberg, Oregon, where my coach was built in 2011. Mine was the first Vesta ever built and it has served me well in the couple of years I've owned it. I was always in fear of a slide out failure because the one slide it has is heavy and is powered with a Shwintek/Lippert motor (one on each side) mounted at the top and a rail system with rollers on the bottom. Later in 2011 Monaco switched over to a cable system. Mine started getting hard to get started, as in it was trying to stick on the front drivers side. I would have to assist it getting 'started'. I had the Monaco factory tech take a look at it when it was at the Coberg factory. He stated he could find nothing wrong with it besides a pine cone on the top of the slide room! He said it was working fine. Then two days after we had left the one motor that needed assistance just started spinning but not engaging the track. I called a mobile repair that came out and installed a new motor thinking the original motor was 'bad' although it was still spinning. He stuck his finger down into the area the motor is installed and said that he thought the gear that the 'D' impeller slides into had dropped! Anyway with some shimming back and forth he was able to seat the 'D' shaft into the gear. It worked fine several times after that. had dropped! He said he hadn't seen anything like that before. Well, low and behold while retracting the room this morning the motor started spinning again once it had fully closed! Then while driving down the 101 the slide came ont on the front side. Thankfully the other motor held so it became cockeyed and didn't come all the way out. Now it's being held in with a 2X4! Does anyone have any idea whats going on????? HELP. Its a long way back to Georgia!
