Slide out problem

Hi folks. My 2001 HR Scepter just started being difficult, much like my wife, but she started long ago. The Main slide goes out just fine, but won't retract. I brought it in manually, then put it back out under power, and the issue remained. Any ideas ? Motor only runs one direction ? Switch is bad ?

First thing to check if you have not already done so, is to see if the return wire has power on it. Your getting power to the motor for the outward direction of the switch, but you may not be sending power to the motor to reverse the direction. There is probably a "Cold Joint" and the power is not going through to the motor on the reverse side of the switch.

Thanks Mutt. I'm not sure which wire is which and assume the motor runs backwards when the polarity is reversed, so if the motor runs in one direction, it is also good to run the other direction, so I don't have a motor problem ? I replaced the switch but no change in the problem.

Listen very carefully for a click somewhere when you toggle the switch. There should be a relay box somewhere that is being driven by the switch. Once you find it hopefully the relays can be moved from one spot that is working to find the bad relay.

Problem solved. Bad relay in the battery compartment. There are 2 relays, one for slide in, one for slide out.

Great news. If you post a picture or two it will help others in the future.
