01 Monaco Knight rear BR slide does not go out (or in). the "banging" sounds like the gears are slipping and not engaging. there is no access from under the slide. the inside floor is raised where the slide rails most likely come into the coach. does anyone know the best method to get to this problem? the nearest good stealership is about 150 miles away, so cant run over there and pick their collective brains.

Hi John -

Very sorry to hear about your problems.

I'm not too familiar with the specifics of the Knight slides, but if they're anything like raised bed setup on my Endeavor, you can remove the big wooden mattress base (couple screws here and there) and lift it up and off. Once there, you should be able to see and access the motor/gears/slide-rails. Hopefully, the problem will then become more obvious and more hopefully easy to troubleshoot & repair.

If not, there's always 24/7 Monaco Tech Support to give you a hand at 877.466.2626. They may not answer right away on nights/weekends, but someone will always call back as soon as they can.

Good luck and let us know how it goes.

Thanks!
ROn

The slide out gears and tracks are probably made by Lippert Industries or PowerGear and both sites have troubleshooting, adjustment and component diagrams. Ronboc's suggestion to take the top off the slide components located under the bed will confirm if the gears are stripped. It could also be something blocking the movement of the slide and the slide clutch is slipping. It makes a horible racket. Don't ask me how I know.

Lippert web site is: http://www.lci1.com/service_owners_m..._slideouts.htm

PowerGear web site is: http://www.powergearus.com/SearchMy/...ideout_man.asp
