Slide out will not retract

I have a 2002 Monaco Windsor with Power Gear slide out controls. It sounds like the gears are jumping and rear slide will not retract. Anyone have this issue and what was the fix?

You will have to visually see what is going on with the slide mechanism. It has some sort of spring ratcheting type gear system, so mine will jump when it reaches the end of the travel, I've learned to release the button as soon as it reaches the in/out.

To access the drive mechanism you will have to remove the platform cover under the bed, there are ~4-6 screws holding it on. Remove the screws and lift it up, you should be able to see the slide mechanism.

Possible cause of your problem is loose screws letting the mechanism jump. Other thing to look for is the slide gear is stripped and/or a shear pin broken.

If you can any identifying numbers post them and we might be able to zero in on the make/model. Get the number off the motor, it will help.

With mine the clutch went out. It is not serviceable separately from the motor/gear assembly. There is a hex bolt on the gear that allows you to manually crank the slide in until you can get a replacement.

Of course, it is possible that a tooth broke off. If it's the gear assembly, the fix is the same...a new gear /motor unit. If it is the rack gear, then a new rack would be in order.

I tried to check it out further today and with a mirror could see the drive gear on the slide out track and the gear teath and they look good. The gear box is where it seams that the noise is coming from. I will call Power Gear in the morning for help and parts.

You access the gearbox from inside the coach. It's normally under the bed, that tilts up...under the sofa, that may have to be unbolted...under a dinette seat...or behind a dresser drawer. A few larger slide motors are accessed from the lower storage bays.
