Slide STEP issue

I hope I am doing this right. If not, somebody please correct me...thanks

Newbie here...I have a 96 Dynasty with the air assisted slide step. Did a search but all I found was slide problems. My slide step closed very hard when activated. So hard, it dented the screen door, so I stopped using it. Last time out, it activated by itself and closed. Now I can't get it to stay open, the switch does nothing. I traced the wires and found a mac valve to the left of the genset that appears to be for the slide step, but I am not sure. My temporary solution was to drill a hole through the floor of the coach into the slide step and insert a bolt to secure the step in the open position. Now I am looking for a more permanent solution. Since Monaco's C11 filing there are no techs available. Hopefully, soon, they will resume business and rehire their techs. Anyone on here that has solved this kind of problem, short of using the bolt as I have? Thanks for any info....Dennis

Sounds like your on the right track to me. That MAC valve on the fire wall is for the step cover and its probably bad. Go to this link to find a distributor. The valve should have a number on it to match it up.

The MAC air valve is used to adjust the speed of the sliding step well cover. There is 2 slotted (not philips) adjustment screws on the side of the valve. Turn these clockwise to slow the slide speed; One does the slide in and the other does the slide out. Turn counter/clockwise to speed them up.

Make sure you have full air pressure before adjusting.
