Slobber Tube Gunk
I use a 1QT Gatorade bottle half filled with Wool zipped tied to my blow by tube (Slobber Tube) to catch blow by fluid. I’ve been on the road for a while so I emptied it yesterday into a red solo cup. I got about a cup full of very thick black (so thick it just pores) gunk with a little bit of water. I expected the water but not the gunk. I run synthetic 15-40 and the temps during this trip have ranged from low 30s to mid 80s I have driven only about 1500 miles with 7 or 8 moves. The engine has a little over 63,000 miles.
Any thoughts? Is this normal?
Tim

Clean your bottle with some gasoline and put back on.

Yep, normal. Oil vapor, combustion byproducts and moisture = gunk.

That is suppose to help the oil vapor "turn into" a liquid in the bottle, and reduce any splash or sloshing in the bottle.
Maybe there are reasons too.
