Good day all, has anyone had a small amount of oil commming from their exhaust manifold? My engine is a Cummins ISB 275, 20,000 miles, 2002. It appears to be leaking, or its wet where the two pieces connect. Other than that it runs great.
Thanks for your help.

Are you sure that the oil is not coming from a valve cover or some other source? The oil wouldn't come from the exhaust manifold. You might want to have a cumins repair center take a look at it. If it is just a small amount it probably just requires monitoring.

Thanks for your reply. The valve cover is bone dry. I spoke with a Cummins mechanic. He said if the engine idles for log periods it tends to "SLOBER" basicly oil tends to get past the rings, blow-by and goes out the exhaust system. The way to correct it is run the engine under a load, and re-seat the rings. Diesels like to be driven. A small amount of oils is no problem, as in my case.

I do not disagree with the slobber theory. But it would be coming out the exhaust tail pipe, why are you getting it on the exhaust manifold? Do you have a leak on the exhaust manifold?
