Open or enclosed stacker.

Hope it’s a small truck and boat as even then the combined weight will likely be well over your 10K hitch. 1000 lbs of tongue weight is going to put 1400+ lbs on your 19K rear axle. Might want to weigh your rig before spending $$$$ on something you should not tow.

The above 2 posts asked some good questions???

Don't forget that you will most likely have to reinforce the hitch and the frame of the coach.

Ive seen and heard some real horror stories when loading up these coaches with stacker trailers. One of them was a friend cracking the frame while on the e-way separating the rear cap from the coach.

Do your homework.

If the trailer weighs 2000# it would put me right at 10,000.

Thanks for the good input folks.

2000 lbs is what an alum car trailer would weigh ...a steel one 3000 lbs. A stacker could be 4-5000+ lbs putting you at 1200+ lbs of tongue weight which is going to put 1600+ lbs on your rear axle.

When you weigh your rig ready to travel you’ll be unhappy with how close you are to your 19 K axle rating without adding any weight to the rear.

Some carry a boat in/over their PU truck but yours can’t even do that... you have only 1400 lbs of load carrying.

Check the width of the axle on your boat trailer, it won't fit inside an enclosed trailer, atleast in my experience. I have tried putting boats on trailers inside enclosed trailers and they are always too wide. The tires on the trailer won't fit through the door opening on the trailer, or clear the wheel wells inside the trailer. I've never tired a stacker, but the outside dimensions are the same, so I think it would be the same result. I've never seen an open stacker, but that would be the best bet in my opinion.

Just for some added info, I have a 24' enclosed trailer, I weighed it brand new, and it was 3400 lbs

A few years ago I talked to a guy who had an open stacker trailer. I don't remember who built it but it was a pretty nice unit. His Jeep went on the bottom and the boat with trailer was winched on top. He even had an enclosed with canvas space at the front for his Harley.

FYI to the OP. They make boat trailers that tilt from the side.

You may have to do some digging to find out what they are using but fairly common as I understand.

A few years ago I sold a 48ft closed in trailer with living quarters to a guy with a drag boat operation and asked how he would get it inside because of the width? and he responded: "the trailer the boat sits on tilts from the side also"

HTH

Lots of good info folks. My Colorado is rated for a 1510 pound load and I would not attempt to load the boat on top of it. The boat and trailer actually weigh 2300#. I am taking under consideration replacing the Colorado with a Silverado and using the load it system.

I think this is your best option although I finally found this picture which probably comes in around 9,000 lbs

Or this one: 10,000++ lbs. Not sure they are still in business but there may be one for sale in WI for $19,500.
