Hi Collens; Try searching your question in the search box at the top right of this page. You should find a wealth of information. Yes it happens. I have an 01 Windsor, but so far so good. No problems with the Smart Wheel. Our steering columns are made by Douglas Industries. You might have some bad connections at the Smart Wheel Controller. This has happened. You might want to check those connections. Also 2 other things to check. Their is a connection at the bottom of the steering wheel column near the floor. Might check there also. An interment problem can be the slip rings under the steering wheel. I think ours have the slip rings and not a clock spring to connect the steering wheel to the controller and other electrical functions. The Smart Wheel Controller in my 01 Windsor is behind the dash radio. Not sure on a 2000 model, but would guess the same location. Hope this gets you started on a fix and let us know what you find as inquiring minds would love to know. Good luck!
