Step light wiring change?

Right now my step light is only on if the step switch is in the auto-retract position. I'd prefer that the light was on any time the step is out..... Is there an easy way to wire it this way? Or do I need to add my own position switch?

Does your coach have Kwikee steps ?

If so this PDF shows a wiring change , for a feed to the step controller to hook the light to a porch light switch .
You wouldn't have to use the porch light switch if access is restricted , but the info could be useful . Inset diagram page two.

sounds like your step light is mis-wired. The Kwikee step light should be on every time the door is open, when the steps are extended, even when the auto retract switch is set to off.

Mine is wired to the porch light, I also believe that I have a ON/OFF button on the porch light so you can turn it off but the step light will stay on.

Thank you! My purple wire is not connected to anything and as far as I can tell there is not an easy way to connect to either the porch switch or the porch light. Such a bummer.

I've decided I'll put in some led strip lighting rather than screw with this little light too much.

Mine is wired the same as yours.

Wire'ing it with the porch light is the only other way I would consider.

No need to have it burning all day long.
