Better than dental floss is an old steel guitar string. You can also try flooding the area between the light and glass with Goo Gone or some other solvent.

Is it possible there's a protrusion of some sort on the back of your light that the dental floss is hanging up on? If so, you could work around the obstruction 360 degrees until most of the adhesive is cut.

put a hair dryer to it and slowly pry the light away.

Maybe you also used a screw ? The kind where the head goes into a slotted hole in the back of the lite?

I’d put up a temp sender with what I thought was just some Velcro. Wanted to move it later but it was stuck fast, so naturally I pulled harder. Ended up tearing off a wedge of paneling when I realized I’d also used a screw
