(2009 Monaco Executive) Occasionally my steps get stuck and don't totally retract. I have cleaned all the rails thoroughly. Monaco says no lubricants. Has anyone else had this problem? Perhaps I need a slightly more powerful motor?

You need to clean and use a dry lub on the steps. Also these steps need to be adjusted just about every month of use. I assume that you have the same steps as the ones on my 2008 Sig. and they are a pain in the ****. I liked the ones on my 2007 Dynasty much better.

I have cleaned all the rails I can reach over and over with wire brush and then fiber brush. Works for a short time then steps jamb again. What do you use to lubricate? Owners' manual says no lubricant. Also, do you adjust your steps yourself monthly? If so, where can I find out how to do? I agree, steps on 08 Camelot were a lot less trouble-the step out light just stayed on all the time; steps retracted or extended.

On my steps, underneath there is a bolt with a nut on each end. The nuts work loose and need to be re-tightened every month or so. You should be able to use any dry lub or graphite on the rails. You just don't want to use anything that will attract dirt and grime.

I don't have a Monaco but several years ago another member of this forum recommended a spray lubricant called Jigaloo. We have used it on our Kwikee steps and also to occasionally wipe the shafts of our jacks.. It works very well and does not attract dirt/dust like WD40 and is available at Wally World.

I second Jigaloo. Much, much better than WD40. I use it on the steps, lock cylinders, slide rollers. As JC2 mentioned it does not attract dirt.

Our 08 Dynasty probably has the same steps. Are they like 2 drawers on roller slides? I use a dry lube on them. The bolts on the end are there to stabilize the steps when they are out. There is also an adjustment for stopping the steps when they are in. The motor on these steps is very weak and it is not a mtter of whether your motor will fail but when!!!

I think we have the same steps. I am going to see if the local dealer can install a slightly more powerful motor.

To lock the nut in place use thead locker _ Loctite, or Permatex brand. If you don't need to adjust the nut use Red high strength, if you need to remove it use the Blue.

You can find it at any hardware or auto parts store $6.50 a tube.

You will find 1000 on one places to use it on a roll house!
