Storage bay lock problem
Greetings,
Has anyone had to deal with sticky locks on their storage bays? We have a lock (photos attached) that will lock with the key but won't unlock. We were lucky to get it open....
I doesn't look like I can replace the lock cylinder as it is riveted in the back. Does anyone have any experience with this problem? Recommendations?
Thanks in advance.

Kroil-Penephite is IMO the best product on the market for loosening corroded or dry(lack of lubrication) locking mechanisms.

I forgot to mention that I used a little WD40 on it to no avail... Maybe I'll try the stuff that Ray recommends.

WD40 dries to a sticky film. Try it yourself, spray some on a piece of glass and allow to dry.

It sounds like you may have a problem in the lock cylinder ,
where the key goes in , if that's the case then those oily type
products are not the way to go ,
The oily residue will collect dirt & dust and cause even more
problems even though they may provide temporary relief .
The proper approach is a graphite lube available at hardware ,
big box stores or auto parts .
I would attempt to flush the key hole with brake spray cleaner
then use lock lube .

I'm guessing that you're electric locks do not work. I fixed mine on my 2002 Monaco Windsor and got two new key fobs for $15 on Amazon. The other guys are definitely correct on using the graphite powder lubricant. I tried liquid and it worked for a couple of days. I can't even get my key in the lock. But, I don't really need it.

Thanks all for the help. I took the assembly to a locksmith and he was able to free up the lock cylinder in about five minutes. He squirted it with Tri-flow and then cut another key from mine after wrapping my key in paper. He then worked the lock cylinder loose with the new key. Works great now. I've also lubed all of the locks with Kroil-Penephite.

Every locksmith I have been to in the last few years uses Tri-Flow.

Tri-Flow is wonderful and it dries up
completely , leaves a dry lube residue
It is even recommended for use on
exhaust brakes .
I use it on my slide locks and most
every thing , it will not collect dirt etc .
It is also not near as messy as graphite

I had a different problem...key lock worked but when I pulled on the handle, even pushing in on the door the sliding lock did not move enough to release the door. Was able to finally get it open by pushing in with my knee and pounding on the door while pulling on the handle.
Had to remove the handle to get to the rod that moves the sliding latch. Removed the rod and put it in a vice so I could bend it making it longer... problem solved.
