Strange

I have a 2002 Monaco Windsor.
As long as I have owned this unit I was under the
impression it had a 350 ISC Cummins engine.
It has ISC stamped on a cover on the engine.

I recently joined the Cummins website.
Typed in the engine serial number.
It came up saying it was an ISX 400

I would ask Cummins if the covers are interchangeable.

Monaco Brochures

You are right the brouchte does not show a upgrade to thr ISL must have been one of the last made in 02 and 03 is missing from the web site but i think that was the year it was offered as a upgrade and 04 the iSL was standard.

I'm guessing you have a digit in the serial number wrong. The ISX in '03 was installed in the Signature only and it was rated at 525 hp. The ISX is a very physically large and heavy engine. I don't believe it has ever been installed in a coach without a tag axle.

Here are pics of Cummins engines:

Thanks for the replies.
My manual is for an ISL engine.
The website will not accept an incorrect number.

The original brochure for this coach says a 350 ISC.
I have all the original paperwork.
I called the shop that replaced the valve cover gasket and
they said they had to give Cummins the engine serial number
to get the right gasket. They also wrote the serial number on
my bill.

If it were me, I would call Monaco tech support with your coach number and ask them what engine you have and the engine serial number in their records. You might ask them for a data card on your coach also. It will give you lots of model and serial numbers for installed equipment.

ISX or ISC

I attached a ISX document. I would think the covers are not interchangeable and the size difference would make it easy to determine.

The early ISL and I think that is what you ment in the first post ( not ISX) would use the same valve cover gasket because the engine was a punched out ISC, the later ISL are a different engine according to what I have been told

My 2002 Windsor had the ISC 350, according to the Cummins Quickserve site it was manufactured in Aug 2001 and installed/sold Nov 2001. I got my engine SN off the Monaco data sheet and input it into the Cummins site.

What does the data sheet on the Cummins site say as far a build date. If it was built before Aug it would rule out a switchover to a different engine. Unless the engines were identical in regards to mounting and hookups for exhaust, air inlet, coolant circuit I doubt Monaco would have went to the trouble of redesigning a coach for a 1 off engine install.

I would check you SN again.

The Cummins site is a great site, it provides owners the ability to get parts info, diagnostic info, and other maintenance information. Anyone that owns a large Cummins engine should join. No cost and takes 5 minutes. Below is a link
