Strange Air Leak 2006 Monaco Knight rr8r

I have a 2006 Knight that looses all air on the gauge in 24 hours and yet the coach does not drop. On my last trip the coach suspension dropped to the ground while getting fuel and then aired up again after 5 minutes or so. I suspect a problem with the leveling valve but really do not know. I am also unsure if I should be draining water from air system. I bought this new in 07 and it has been a great coach. 70k miles on it and this is the first problem I have been unable to solve. Any help/ideas are appreciated.

Welcome to the forum !

Yes, you should be pulling the drains on your air tanks regularly.

Have you ever had your air dryer dessicant filter replaced?

Definitely need to drain the tanks and replace the dessicant filter regularly.

I have never had mine drop quickly but will loose all the air in 6 hours and drop the rear bags if parked on an unlevel spot.

Was the coach at an extreme angle when it lost air?

You should drain the tanks at least once a month. When you say the suspension drop did the tanks go to zero or did the air bags drop and tanks stay at about 60 psi?

All of my tank drains are on a manifold on the drivers side in the generator compartment. Don't know if the Endeavour / Diplomat is in the same place, or whether they used lanyards in one of the wheelwells.

Just reread your post. Yours should be a lot like my 06 Beaver. The suspension is isolated from the main tanks by a check valve in the HWH manifolds. That is why the tanks can drop to 0 without dropping the suspension not sure why the suspension dropped during refueling. Did you hear an aux air compressor cycle on? It feeds the suspension system directly without feeding the tanks. At least that is how my HWH system works

Well, if the air system isn't maintained, it can wreak havoc with the suspenssion system / leveling system check valves!

There are three tank drain valves on my 2005 Monaco Knight. Two are mounted just in front of the Onan generator on the curbside. The third valve is mounted on the hitch receiver structure near the center on the curbside. The valve handles should be turned 90° and left open up to 5 minutes after the air has all emptied from the tanks. If you are in a humid climate you should drain the tanks more frequently than if you are located in a dry climate. Perhaps weekly versus monthly.
The dessicant air cartridge is located in the compartment just behind the roadside drive tires which is accessed using the barrel key.
My coach does not have an HWH air leveling system. It has an RVA 3 jack hydraulic levelling system.

Thanks for the great information. This is something that I have clearly missed. I was under the impression that the water dumped itself but appears to be a misconception on my part. I will look for these drains and for the desiccant filter. Thank you very much!

I don't have an HWH system but your description is accurate. What is different is that in the past the suspension always dropped as the air pressure dropped. Now the tanks have no/little pressure and the suspension is still inflated. I think I have a bad valve somewhere probably water related due to the lack of maintenance/knowledge on my part. Thanks for your help.

You are correct and I am afraid that is a big part of what has gone wrong here......

Seems to me that it has somehow started working as designed !
My air tanks will bleed down over several days, but my susspension never does!
