For those who may be interested, the new governor was $25.07....cheapest part of the whole fix. Also, it is easily accessed in the engine compartment.

The governor is remotely mounted. Very easy to get to. I replaced mine and kept to old one as a spare. These are as crucial as carrying extra fuel filters, so you don't get stuck. I'd recommend buying a spare. Hard to tell the quality of new parts these days.
