T-Stat and Aqua Hot

After doing a regular service to our Aqua Hot I noticed the t-stat does not recognize the "furnace" mode.
I know these 4-button t-stats can be finicky but it always recognized the furnace mode which then activates all the heat exchangers.
This is a problem with the bedroom t-stat as well. Neither one shows the word "furnace" on the screen.
Older model Aqua hot model 431/12. No indicator lights.

Maybe I bumped something? Fuse?
Can I reset the t-stat?
Any thoughts? Thanks, Iver.

This happened to me, too. A wire got pinched when the Webasto was installed. It blew some fuse/es. They were located on the fuse block inside the cover. There are also some relays fastened to the cover of the control thermostats that I have pulled the connectors off of, being that access is so handi. The zone relays are easy to unseat, also, I check to make sure they have the lock wire in place. The is also a short red wire that runs from the Webasto harness to the wiring block that usually disconnects with a spade connector. It is sometimes connected directly to the wiring block and can be pull off inadvertently.

Sigh.........

Over, try a reset of the T-stats. The question would be why all lost the furnace. The forward T-stat gets its setup from the forward roof AC circuit board and the back one from the rear most roof AC unit. I can't understand what in common caused the problem other than power.

Hi Mike,

I did a reset of both the thermostats. Both zones in the bedroom t-stat.
The reset still did not bring back the "furnace".

As Coma mentioned, I will have to check all the connections inside to see if something is loose or pinched.

Thanks, Iver.

Hi Mike,
Yes, the aqua hot starts and runs like normal.

The thermostats work for "fan" , "cool", and "heat pump".

I guess I will have to pull the cover off the thing and try to trace all the wiring.
These older units have 3 signal pairs of wires coming from the thermostats and going to
several connections, relays etc. etc.
Not sure if I have a wiring schematic or not so it looks like a trial and error job.
Iver.

Coma,

Did you just lose the furnace mode on your thermostats or did they stop working all together?
Iver.

Iver, like I said before the furnace mode on the T-stat comes from a dip switch setting on a circuit board in the roof AC units. Do you have the roof AC circuit breakers turned off or no AC power in the MH? If so try either turning on the AC breakers or turn on 110 v power and try resetting the T-stats again

Hi Mike,
Yes, the Air conditioners work from the thermostats. Also the heat pumps and the fan. Just not the furnace.

I also tried turning on the 120v side of the aqua hot and then trying to get something on the thermostat to show furnace but no luck.
I must have disturbed something on the furnace when I was working on the burner assembly.
Thanks, Iver.

The furnace option just dissappeared. Everything else worked normally. My money is on a fuse or a pinched wire. Although there are many things that could be wrong, since it was working before service and after service it's not, the only likely scenario is a fuse/disconnect. IMO

FWIW we have the same model AH.

Thanks Coma (Jim)

At least that gives me a place to start. Like yours, my furnace option mode
just disappeared. I have a schematic and a multi-tester so I should be able to test all the components. Main problem is the time it takes to get the cover off the unit to get at everything.
Maybe I'll get lucky and it will just be a fuse.

Thanks, Iver.

Setting the DIP switch fixed mine.

I had the same problem as the OP. When I read Mike's post, I realized I had replaced the front AC unit over the summer. I downloaded the PDF for the AC circuit board, found switch #5 (of 8) and turned it on. Suddenly I had a furnace mode on my Thermostat. When I used it the fan down on the floor came on.

Thanks Mike. This forum is awesome.

I had the same issue. The furance mode would not turn on. The rear zones worked but the front zone would not. After many hours of trouble shooting it turned out to be a loose wire on the electronic control board. The wires appeared to large to fit into the small holes. After triming the wires to fit tightly the system came on. Check all your connections. You might have knock one loose after working on it. Good Luck.

Thanks Devildawg,

Next week I will pull the cover again and check all the wiring.
I have several different manuals and schematics but my unit of the year seems to have a slightly different wiring pattern.
In addition to the main large relays attached to the furnace front, I have a
small group of little black relays as well. They don't show up on any schematic that I have seen.
