Tach Gauge reads low silver leaf doesnít

So with my 2001 Dynasty ISC I understand the silver leaf gets its tach data from the ecm. I believe the dash gauge gets its data from the alternator?
Is that right? Is there a way to test the incoming signal from the alternator with a meter? Iíve checked the connections on the gauge.

My gauge reads about 20% low.

Don't you have an adjustment/calibration screw on the back of the tach?

An ISC is an electronic engine, no need for a signal from the alternator like on the older mechanical engines. Tach signal should be coming from the ECM.

Not all ISC engines get tach signal from ECM

On my 2000 ISC-350, the tach gets its signal from the alternator. The SilverLeaf almost surely gets its tach signal from the ECM, but not so for the dash tachometer. Any time you get an "Alternator Fail" light (inverter/charger charging at same time engine alternator is charging) tach will go dead.

That may have changed with later ISC models, and almost surely with the ISL engines, but the early ISC engines still got their tach signal from the alternator.

I think mine also gets the dash tach signal from the alternator. I could unhook and see. I need to check the connection anyway.

Jeff, I read through the thread and I'm kind of curious why you want to try and figure out the error of the dash tachometer if you have a Silverleaf?

I installed a Silverleaf soon after I bought my coach because the fuel sender unit was intermittent. As soon as I had my Silverleaf set up I never looked at a dash gauge again. That's just my experience.

Just curious... or am I misunderstanding and you're just comparing how the two get their signals and you don't actually have a Silverleaf...

Just want to fix it if I can. It doesnít seem stuck it seems 20% low or so. I do need to watch it climb with the silver leaf and make sure itís not topping off before silver leaf. Could be something not letting it go higher.
Iíll advise what I find
