tag axle adjustment
Has anyone had experience in adjusting the pressure in the tag axel? I recently had a 6 corner weigh done by Weigh-it in Phoenix area. Guy has portable scales and comes to you, gives you a very complete spec sheet with findings and goes over recommended changes and tire pressures for the recorded weights.
In my case I need to put a little more weight on the tag thus taking some weight off the drives & increasing the front slightly. I have followed tag axel adjustment instructuions Monaco provided as an addendum for the 2001 Executive & Dynasty models. I have a 2002 Signature and believed the same instructons would apply.
The instructions are fairly straight forward and I followed them to the letter. Essentially unlock and adjust the regulator pressure setting, and perform a stabilization procedure by raising and lowering the tag to lock in the new setting.
The problem I experience is that the pressure I set and lock in does not in fact "lock in" to where I have set it. Instead it continues to rise. I adjusted it to 44 PSI (normal creep of about 2 PSI is expected so if you want to end up at 44 you start at 42). In my case, setting at 42 (hoping to end at 44) I ultimatey end at close to 50 PSI. I played with various starting points but still not able to finish at the desired 44PSI.
Any help or insight welcomed.
